There are some really oddball scholarships being offered today that you would never even think they would have a scholarship program for. Think of some strange scholarships and you may be right in guessing they have a wacky scholarship program being offered to win it. This is becomming more and more commonplace in the scholarship world and it seems to be quickly growing.
It might be we are discovering them now that we are looking for weird and unusual scholarships too! Afterall, many have been in place a while and some just recently established in the last five years or so. Nevertheless; different scholarships are fun to read about because they can be so bizare.
Harvard University has ancestry based scholarships which is odd!
For instance, did you know that Harvard University has ancestry based scholarships which if you are a descendant of people of specific last names and have that exact same name yourself you will receive a scholarship to attend their. Wouldn’t it be nice to attend Harvard for free.
Examples of odd college scholarships
There are weird scholarships such as making a garment from 100% wool that is original and unique and bingo you can win a scholarship for it.
There are wacky scholarships like the Parapsychology Foundation Scholarship which deals with paranormal activities. This is very different indeed and not very many people will be interested in this one – only those who know they have this type of gift and aren’t afraid to dabble in it.
Other strange scholarships are the Excellent in Predicting the Future Award. This will center around economics and what direction you feel the world will go – hopefully in a good direction anyways!
Students can get bizarre scholarships in odd ways such as for surfing or making a outlandish peanut butter sandwich that’s never been made before – that taste good of course!
What about those crazy scholarships students can get for out of the ordinary scholarship criteria such as a Nudist organization sponsors, or used to anyways. If you promote nudity you may be eligible – but be careful because you have to be a participating member!
You also have funny scholarships from curious organizations like the NRA where you don’t need to fire a gun to win up to $30,000 in atypical scholarship monies.
Uncommon scholarships equals no social security number or citizenship required!
It’s hard to believe that students can get uncommon scholarships from the AB540, even when they don’t have a social security number and aren’t even a citizen of the country they will be getting it from. These uncanny scholarships are a panacea for undocumented students.
Different scholarships being offered from odd places
There are really different scholarships being offered from odd places that are you may be unfamilar with. One is the The Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation which deals with lots of common knowledge on different topics. There are test and quizzes throughout the year so it’s ongoing and seems like fun too.
Odd college scholarships come in forms of being left handed. If you’re left handed and going to Juniata College you’re in the money for $1,000 to pay your tuition. There may be other places sponsoring left handed scholarships since this writing so be sure to check on it.
Do we all agree on what odd scholarships are?
Not everyone agrees what exactly are odd scholarships. Some of them we write about here may seem like a normal scholarship being offered. Our writers are coming from the perspective of what it used to be like when being awarded a scholarship in past years, which was based on exceptionaly high GPA, ACT, and SAT scores.
If you didn’t have those then you never got a scholarship. Need based student aid you could possibly get but scholarships were awarded to only the near genius students in past years.
